Soy Yogurt - using Easiyo Maker.

This is my 2nd Attempt at making Soy Yogurt with the Easiyo Yogurt Maker, and I have to say its actually very yogurty. Very thick, natural sort of yogurt so great for cooking and introducing to bubs. My 1st attempt did work but I decided I would mx the whey(?) back in that had seperated. That wasn't a good idea and just made it runny. I did use it though to cook the Butter Chicken, so not a complete waste.

What You Need/ I used
  • Easiyo Yogurt Maker
  • 1L Long life Soy Milk
  • Boiling water
  • 100g Leftover yogurt*
  • Table spoon white sugar (optional) ^
  1. Put Leftover yogurt in easiyo yogurt container.
  2. Add half Soy Milk. Put lid on and shake.
  3. Fill yogurt container till just off the top with Soy milk. Lid on and shake.
  4. Fill Easiyo Yogurt Maker up to the top of the red baffle (like normal). Put yogurt container in. Put lid on yogurt maker and set aside on the bench.
I would say mine was on the bench about 12hrs while I was at work and was too lazy to check it properly before putting in the fridge, but I could see it had worked because the yogurt had floated to the top leaving the whey(?) at the bottom.
* The left over yogurt I used was a dairy/milk Easiyo yogurt mix, Low lactose. So this is not Dairy Free yet. I do have a Soy Yogurt in the fridge I will use next time and see if I have results. For our situation though this will be dairy free enough for us, for now.
^ I'm not sure if the sugar sweetened it at all it was still quite bitter like natural yogurt but it was worth a try. Next time if I'm going for a sweet yogurt I'll add more, or something else. But if going for natural I would leave it out.

  1. Thanks for the recipe. I can't wait to try. Hey what about using Stevia sweetener instead of white sugar?

  2. coolfire you can't use stevia unfortunately as the sugar feeds the bacteria to create the yogurt but bear in mind , even if a dairy yogurt says sugar free or low sugar it means ADDED but in fact it has sugar already in the form of lactose that presumably feeds the reaction in lieu of granulated sugar
